On Thursday morning at 10 o'clock the funeral of Nick Kohner Sr., was held from the Catholic Church. The deceased was a native of Bettendorf, Germany (Luxembourg), from which place he emigrated in 1857 (1847) with his parents at the age of ten years. He grew to manhood in the neighborhood of Granville, Wis., where he was married to Miss Margaret Jung. They later settled on a farm near Bethany, where they lived until about 1885. Mrs. Kohner died suddenly and left her much bereaved husband and eight children to mourn her loss, two sons having died before. After this Mr. Kohner retired from farm life and lived near this village with the smaller children, the oldest ones being in charge of the far, and all of whom are married at the present time. About twelve years ago he married again to Mrs. Emma Dever, who faithfully cared for him in his lingering illness of diabetes, which ending his life on Monday morning just one day before his seventy-third birth anniversary.
