Geneva
Bernard J. Modaff, Sr., 75, a Geneva resident, passed away on Friday, December 29, 1995 at his home in Geneva. He was born December 30, 1919 in Naperville.
He was a former resident of Naperville and West Chicago for many years. He was the chief engineer at the Wheaton Center Complex in Wheaton for over 20 years and was a member and past president of the American Farm Bureau, a member of the Aurora Moose Lodge #400 and served as a board member of the DuPage County Fair Association from 1983 to 1995.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn; three sons, Pete (Jan) of Geneva, Bernard Jr. (Mary) of Wheaton and Rich (Caren) of West Chicago; four daughters, Joeanne (Dave) Conway of Batavia, Jeannette (Jeff) Kielp of Sugar Grove, Lou Ann (Marty) Johnson of Bristol and Cindy (Ray) Soto of West Chicago; 24 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Nick Modaff Sr. of Naperville; four sisters, Carolyn Gaworski of Aurora, Agnes Thies of Montgomery, Cecil Kuhn and Lil Landorf both of Naperville; step-father of Stephen James of Wheaton, Randi (Michael) Kolinski of Wheaton, Susan James of Geneva, Robin (Kevin) Seuring of Rockford, Tina Trumbower of Bloomington, Illinois and Marilyn James of Rockford.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary (Keller).
Visitation will be on Monday, January 1, from 3 to 9 p.m. at the Williams-Woodward Funeral Home, Rt. 59 and Pine St. in West Chicago.
Funeral services will be on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. to St. Mary's Church in West Chicago. Mass will be at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Vern Arseneau officiating. Burial will be at Assumption Cemetery in Winfield.
