34063 Rollingstone - Elizabeth Greden Rivers, 66, a retired registered nurse, died Friday at Rochester Methodist Hospital of a heart attack following cancer surgery.

The former Elizabeth Lehnertz, she was born June 16, 1911, in Rollingstone and married Francis Greden May 6, 1935, in Winona. He died July 2, 1969. She married Edward Rivers Sept. 3, 1976, in Rollingstone.

Mrs. Rivers was a graduate of St. Mary's School of Nursing in Rochester. In August 1976 she retired after 24 years as a nurse at Winona General Hosptal.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, David Greden of Rochester and John Greden of Ann Arbor, Mich.; a daughter, Mrs. Carol Ryan of Agoura, Calif.; 9 grandchildren and a sister, Florence Wise of Rollingstone.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church at Rollingstone. Officiating will be gthe Rt. Rev. Msgr. Frank Klein, the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Richard Speltz and the Rev. LeLand Smith.

A wake service will be a 8 p.m. Monday at Holy Trinity Church. Friends may call at the church after 4 p.m. Monday, until the time of the service Tuesday at the Church.

34064 Rollingstone Woman Will be Buried Friday

Rollingstone, Minn. - Funeral services for Mrs. J. H. Rivers, who died at St. Mary's hospital, Rochester, Tuesday noon after an illness of one year with a heart ailment, will be conducted Friday at 10 a.m. at the Holy Trinity Catholic church by Rev. Richard Speltz of Johnsburg, a nephew of Mrs. Rivers. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
A lifelong resident of Rollingstone, Mrs. Rivers was born September 23,1869, as Miss Bertha Jung, and was married October 10, 1893. She was a member of the Rosary society.
She is survived by her husband, two children, Dr. A. B. Rivers, Rochester, and Angela, at home; two sisters, Mrs. Henry (Josephine) Speltz, Winona, and Mrs. Henry (Clara) Schmidt, St. Paul, and one brother, Alois Jung, Rollingstone.

34065 Rollingstone, Minn. - Francis A. Greden, 58, died of lung cancer at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday at Community Memorial Hospital, Winona. He was ill 5 months.

An employee of the Winona County Highway Department the past 35 years, he was born Aug. 18, 1910 on a farm in Mount Vernon Township. His family moved here in 1918. He attended Holy Trinity High School here and St. Mary's College, Winona. He married Elizabeth Lehnertz of Rollingstone 5/6/1935. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, its St. Nicholas Society and the Winona Knights of Columbus and was mayor of Rollingstone for eight years.

Survivors are: His wife; two sons, David, Rochester, and John, Minneapolis; one daughter, Mrs. Richard (Carol) Ryan, St. Paul; eight grandchildren; one brother, Elmer, Winona; and one sister, Colette, Rochester.

Funeral services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church, the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Roy Literski officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Edward and Alois Rivers, Robert Schmit, Francis Kreidermacher, Francis Benedett and Thomas Hengel.

Friends may call at the Rollingstone Funeral Home this afternoon and evening. Rosaries will be recited at 8:30 by the St. Nicholas Society and at 9 by the Knights of Columbus. Winona Daily News, July 2, 1969

34066 Rollingstone, Minn. - John H. Rivers, 72, local merchant here for the greater part of his life, died at a Rochester hospital at 8 a.m. today following two months of illness from a heart ailment. He was at Rochester one week.
Mr. Rivers was born at Rollingstone in 1868 and lived in the community all his life, conducting a dry goods and notions store.
He married Bertha Jung at Rollingstone on October 10, 1903, and his wife died just three and a half weeks ago.
Surviving are two children, Dr. A. B. Rivers of Rochester and Angela at home.
He was a member of St. Nicholas' society of Holy Trinity church here. Funeral services will be conducted Monday morning at 10 o'clock at the church and burial will be in the Rollingstone cemetery.

34067 Rollingstone, Minn. Mrs. Leona Jung, 79, died Wednesday at the home of her son, Theodore, of Palos Verdes, Calif., where she had been visiting since Dec. 12. She had been ill about a year.
She was born here Sept. 15, 1880, and was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and was active in Catholic missionary work. She was a past president of the Winona diocesan chapter of the National Council of Catholic Women.
She was married to Theodore Jung Oct. 2, 1907, at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, St. Paul, by his brother, the Rev. Peter M. Jung. They lived at Valier, Mont., from 1910-1919, when they returned to Rollingstone, and had lived here since.
She is survived by one son, Theodore, two daughters, Mrs. Herbert (Evelyn) Hames, Lake City, and Miss Elizabeth Catherine Jung, San Francisco, Calif., and 13 grandchildren. Her husband and one son have died.
Funeral services will be Monday at 9 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, the Rev. S. N. Majerus officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The Rosary will be said at 8 p.m. Sunday at the Rollingstone Funeral home by Father Majerus and by the Rosary Society.

Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday evening after 6.

34076 Ruth E. Augsburg, 88, of Steward, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2001 at the Shabbona Health Care Center. She was born January 7, 1913 the daughter of John and Martha (Steuer) Schneidewind at Chicago, Illinois. Ruth married John J. Augsburg on March 31, 1951 at Naperville. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Rochelle; the Lee County Farm Bureau. Survivors include three sons Kenneth (Charolette) Augsburg of Creston, William (Kathy) Augsburg of Joliet, and Ronald (June) Augsburg of Monroe, WI; one daughter, Kay (Dick Shewczyk) Heim of Naperville; 17 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and one son-in-law, Richard Kohley. Ruth is preceded in death by her husbands, Elmer Mielke and John J. Augsburg; two daughters, Karen Kohley and Janet Weideman; and one brother Albert Schneidewind. Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday, January 17, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Rochelle with Fr. David Peck officiating. Burial will follow services at St. Peter and Paul's Cemetery in Naperville. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2001 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in DeKalb. A spiritual wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday evening. A memorial is being established for Ruth E.
